MFI
Development:
2006-started Tujijenge Tanzania, now financially sustainable
serving over 18,000 clients with portfolio outstanding of
4.8 bn TZS ( US $3 million). 8% ownership.
2008-Took over microfinance operations of SEF under Tujijenge
Microfinance. TMF serves over 1,000 clients with portfolio
outstanding of TZS 150 million and operational sustainability
at an average of 50%. 96% ownership
2009- Started operations in Uganda (Tujijenge Uganda). Tujijenge
Uganda currently serves over 3,000 clients and portfolio outstanding
of over 300million Ugshs. ($125.000) 100% ownership
-Started up Tujijenge Tanzania and as of Jan 2010 was serving
10,600 customers with an outstanding portfolio of Tshs 2.5
billion (Approx. $1.9M).
-Tujijenge Afrika acquired the microfinace activities of SEF
to form Tujijenge Microfinance.
- Tujijenge Afrika expanded its services to Uganda by starting
up another affiliate, Tujijenge Uganda.
Product Development:
2009-Developed Agricultural loans pilot tested successfully
in Tujijenge Uganda in 2010 with support from Oxfam Novib.
Now rolled out successfully in branch that is operationally
sustainable
Developed solar energy loans that were pilot-tested in all
three MFIs-for Uganda market research done and pilot testing
in 2011. Focus on smaller systems from Dlight and barefoot
Market Research for health insurance product done in partnership
with Pharm Access in Tanzania
Solar loans for SACCOS model set up in Tanzania successfully
with support from GTZ. Currently refined model under pilot
with Konserve Consult.
Capacity building activities
-Have lLiased with capacity building institutions to Microsave,
UNITUS, Triple jump and other capacity building organisations
to host trainings with for different MFIs in Tanzania oin
various areas in Microfinance like Market research training
conducted by Microsave, solar lending for MFIs conducted by
GVEP for practioners and also for senior management.. Hundreds
of participants from different MFIs have benefitedattended.
2010 with Oxfam Novib support financed the meetings that led
to bringing the two MFI networks together as one in Tanzania
2008 to 2010 facilitated over 50 trainings for the MFI staff
and Board in the Tujijenge network with Oxfam Novib support
