is a not for profit company limited by guarantee based in
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. "Tujijenege Afrika" is
a Swahili phrase that means, "let's build ourselves Africa.
Mission,
Vision and Core values
Our mission is "Improving the quality of lives of families
in Africa through the development of sustainable Micro Finance
Institutions with a vision "To start, support, strengthen
sustainable microfinance institutions and products in Africa.
Tujijenge Afrika's core values centre on the desire to promote
respect for humanity, integrity, teamwork and sustainability.
In Afrika 90% of the population
does not have access to financial services, and even more
people live without electricity and health care. A lack of
competitive and robust microfinance institutions has inhibited
innovation in the sector, causing people to rely on expensive
financing alternatives that perpetuate a lifestyle of poverty.
Ownership
and Governance
Tujijenge Afrika was founded in 2006 by six microfinance practitioners
who were committed to promoting the provision of professional
microfinance services to the in Africa
Funding
Funding for Tujijenge Afrika comes from owner's contributions,
country programs contributions, grants, dividend payments
and loans.
